FUN STUFF TO LEARN:

Recycle symbol on white backgroundEveryone has seen this symbol, right? It’s the recycling sign–No, no it’s not. It’s actually called the chasing arrows symbol. Even though it’s found on most single use plastics, it doesn’t mean an item is suitable for recycling. If there’s a number in the triangle, that indicates what sort of plastic resin the item was made from. Check with your local recycling company to see which plastics they accept. You might be alarmed to learn that only a few plastics are actually recyclable.

FUN STUFF TO DO:

When you see trash on the ground, do you bother to pick it up? If not, you should. Wildlife often mistake broken up plastic for food. Or they get entangled in it. Trash also pollutes our waterways. Next time you’re tempted to walk right past that bottle cap on the ground, toss it in the trash can instead.
